You may or may not have heard somewhere on the internet, but legendary film maker Quentin Tarantino is making a new movie this year. As usual, the expectations are freakishly high, but there’s several reasons why we can assume that Tarantino’s latest effort will probably be his best to date.
Naturally, it’s not the first time this has been said about one of his movies, so we should probably break down the arguments we can find all over the internet (apart from the amazing score on RottenTomatoes) and see if it’ll hold up or not.
It Might Be His Last Movie
I know, this is a pretty lame reason to start with, since every movie before this one might have been his last one before the next one was made. That said, this is the first time Tarantino himself is being vague about whether he’ll make another movie, and why would he end his career on a low?
It’s A Movie About Movies
Consider this movie less of a regular film but more of Tarantino writing a very long love letter to the art form he’s been a part of for so long.
It Has Non-Fictional Elements To It
The movie has Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate in it – in 1969, the year that the latter was murdered by Charles Manson, no less. It also includes the Playboy Mansion and references dozens of things that were going on in the late 60’s.
The Cast Is Amazing
Tarantino always manages to get great actors for his movies, but this one stars Brad Pitt, Leo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, … And I’m sure there’ll be some Tarantino alumni to surprise us in the movie left and right.
It’s Freakishly Long
The movie is almost three hours, which means that after Avengers: Endgame, we’re dealing with a second “epic conclusion” movie. Well, if this one concludes Tarantino’s career as a movie director, that is.
There Was Much Secrecy About It
Granted, Tarantino’s last movies all had leaked scripts before release, but this one took the Marvel-approach: much like in the long runtime, only a singular copy of the entire script was made and only Tarantino had access to the full script of the movie.
It Has A Dog In It
Seriously, how does that not make every movie better?
