Curiosities Source: zestradar.com Horses are arguably the most beautiful and inspiring creatures on Earth. However, it turns out that there are horse breeds that are considered more beautiful than others. The Akhal-Teke horse breed is one of them. Considered the oldest horse breed, the Akhal-Tekes originated in Turkmenistan approximately 3,000 years ago.
Why this particular breed? Akhal-Tekes are ancient racehorses. They are great at racing short and long distances. These horses are crazy strong, they have a great ability to handle the heat and well adapted to dry, hot weather conditions.
Akhal-Tekes are also called the golden horse of the desert. And there’s a reason for that. These guys can easily survive for days without food and water. So, don’t get fooled by their frail look, they can even move within a quicksand if needed.
Another reason why everybody cares so much about this rare breed is that the Akhal-Tekes are a threatened species. Yes, you heard me right, domestic animals can go instinct too.
About the unique metallic sheen… The Akhal-Tekes are famous for their silky hair that gives their coats this rare metallic sheen. While the breed comes in different colors, the most valuable and super rare one is isabelline color.
Isabelline horses literally shimmer in the sun with golden and silver sheen. As the sun sets, isabelline hair turns slightly red, and it turns creamy-white at the sunrise. When caught in the shadow, the hair gets this ridiculously beautiful shade of ivory.
So, what does the most beautiful horse on Earth look like? Unfortunately, there are not that many horses of isabelline color in the world. The one stallion we do know about is currently residing somewhere in Turkey. His name is Akgez Geli and his pictures have recently blown up the Internet. This horse is truly one of a kind, beautiful and unique.
