At-Home Spa Day Ideas for Men

  Beauty

Men need pampering too, and that’s just a fact. You can say what you want, but it is our firm belief that everyone needs a pamper session to recharge once in a while, especially in the hellscape of a year that is 2020. Depending on where you live and your government’s policies, COVID-19 rules and restrictions differ, but in most places, you can’t go to a spa at the moment. So why not have a spa day at home? It’s easier than you think and can be just as beneficial. You can do as many or as few spa activities as you want but here are a few we’d definitely recommend.

1. Scented Candles

You might think this isn’t important but smells are actually very important and they can make a huge difference in your mood and how you feel. So invest in a nice smelling candle. There’s such a huge variety of scented candles available that you’re bound to find one that you’ll like. For a spa day, it’s best to go for a soothing smell. Something like clean cotton, jasmine, or pine is best for making one feel rejuvenated and relaxed. You can just light a candle and relax with a good book, or you can take the extra step and have a candle burning while you take a shower or bath.

2. Exfoliating Shower

Many people make the mistake of exfoliating in the bath, but that’s not the best way to go. If you do it in the bath, you’re just sitting in a pool of your own dead skin. It’s best to exfoliate in the shower. Take a nice steamy shower, use an exfoliating shower gel or an exfoliating loofah. Make sure to be thorough, but not rough. You don’t want to over-exfoliate. It’s better to use a gentle exfoliator more often, that goes crazy once every couple of months and feels all raw.

3. Relaxing Bath

Baths are meant for relaxing. You can pour bubble bath if you want, or go for bath salts or bath oils. It’s really up to you what kind of effect you want from your bath. In case you’re not quite sure — going for a colorful bath bomb is always a good idea. A lot of the time they already contain some sort of moisturizing ingredient that is good for your skin. Make sure the water is pleasantly warm, but not too hot. Turn on some relaxing music or a chill podcast and enjoy. Do a hair mask, while you’re at it, for extra healthy and shiny looking hair.

4. Shave

Shaving is a whole different experience once you’ve given your skin a chance to soak and your hair has softened. If you’re one of those guys who always nicks himself no matter how hard you try, or perhaps your face just gets irritated after every shave – try shaving after you’ve had a nice bath. Just take your time, don’t rush, use all pre-shave oils and aftershave that you need. You’re guaranteed infinitely better results. Clipping your nails after a bath is also a good idea.

5. Face Mask

Even the manliest of men deserve to have nice, smooth, moisturized skin, so go ahead and have a face mask after your bath. Try some of those eyepatches too, they’ll do wonders for your dark circles and little wrinkles around your eyes. If you’re not ready to invest in a nice nourishing cream-based mask – at least get a sheet mask to try out.

6. Moisturize

Moisturizing is the key for everyone, so go ahead and do it right. Use a face toner first (to prep your skin) and then put on a moisturizer. While you’re at it, moisturize your neck too, and don’t forget your hands too. There’s nothing sexier than a man with soft moisturized hands.
